Handling Training
PCL is a
Nation-wide training provider offering a complete range of fully certificated
health and safety courses at your premises. Our
course fee is £275 per workshop for 18 delegates.
All courses come with all of the tools necessary for delegates to use
in their individual work place together with a FREE e-mail & telephone
help line to provide post-training support.
When two or more courses are booked for any one day (over any permutation
of subjects e.g. Health and Safety and Risk Assessment, Manual Handling,
Fire Warden / Fire Marshal, DSE Risk Assessment) the fee for our courses
falls to £195 per workshop for 18 delegates
PLUS we provide our 'Competent Person Service' FREE of charge for a full

MANUAL HANDLING - PREVENTING
INJURY AT WORK
COURSE OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
This
training is provided in multi-media format using projected power point,
video and practical presentation mediums and is fully certificated on a
delegate to delegate basis by our MIOSH RSP consultant who has a higher
degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management from Loughborough University
and a further higher degree in Risk Management from Leicester University.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- Understand the costs
of manual handling related injury in the work place
- Appreciate the anatomy
& make up of the Spine, Vertebrae, Discs, Muscles, Tendons Ligaments
& Nerves and how damage is caused
- Appreciate the dynamics
of the back and how manual handling places immense strain on the body
- Understand the legal
duties of employers & employees with regard to manual handling operations
- Be introduced to the
self assessment of manual handling operations considering the task, the
individual, the load and the environment
- To understand how to
lift and move loads safely with practical exercises to ensure techniques have
been fully understood
- Kinetic lifting techniques
for one person lifting, moving and team operations
- Manual handling law
SUMMARY
By the end of this
course delegates will have a thorough understanding of manual handling
safety, safe lifting & carrying procedure and how to assess manual handling
risks. Delegates will be encouraged to discuss their own workplace activities,
experiences and begin to assess existing measures to control any hazards
present with balance and moderation
